Over the years, ACDN has remained a resilient and effective force, empowering member organizations and advancing our shared mission. This success is driven by the dedication and expertise of our Board of Directors, who bring diverse backgrounds and a shared commitment to sustaining and growing ACDN's impact. Each board member plays a crucial role in guiding the organization and supporting its member agencies by sharing their unique talents, insights, and resources.

As we continue to build on this legacy, we seek individuals who are passionate about our mission and ready to make a difference by joining our dynamic Board. To ensure a strong alignment with our goals, we aim for a balance of Directors, including those with direct ties to our member agencies.

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

  • Proven initiative and follow-through

  • A strong alignment with ACDN's mission and strategic goals

  • A collaborative mindset, with an emphasis on team leadership and consensus-building

  • Previous board experience (preferred)

  • Technological proficiency and digital skills

  • Advocacy skills to champion ACDN’s mission

  • Strategic, forward-thinking approach with critical and innovative problem-solving abilities

  • Clear understanding of Board and Executive Director roles

  • Respect for diverse perspectives and contributions

  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for creative solutions

Commitment Expectations:
Board members should have the financial capacity and willingness to:

  • Participate in virtual monthly board conference calls

  • Attend the annual strategic planning meeting (at your own expense)

  • Join the annual national conference (at your own expense)

Position Description

A Director’s term shall be two (2) years, and a Director may be elected for four (4) consecutive terms. Directors are elected at the annual meeting with their terms becoming effective on January 1st of the upcoming year. Following an absence from the board of at least one year, a former director is again eligible for election to the Board as set forth above. (Section 3.4) 

●       Board members manage the business affairs of ACDN, including establishing policies and procedures, which govern the organization and its members. 

●       Board members have a fiduciary responsibility to oversee ACDN’s finances, including being actively involved in fundraising and promoting the organization. 

●       Board members actively participate in the governance of ACDN by thinking critically and strategically about ACDN’s activities, which includes coming prepared to meetings, asking tough discerning questions and chairing committees.

●       Board members agree to participate in monthly conference calls and two in-person meetings annually at their own expense.  Board members are not compensated by ACDN for travel and communication expenses.

 

Nomination Procedure:

●       Board Membership Application forms and current resumes from potential board members should be sent to Stephanie Credle, Board President, at scredle@acdnonline.org

●       ACDN Board of Directors will review all submissions and arrange telephone meetings with viable candidates. Interested candidates are encouraged to talk with a member of ACDN Board before submitting an application. 

●       The Board will present and vote on the slate of potential directors during its monthly Board meetings.
